Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SouthBasin IceIntel web application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information at registration and keep it current.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent reports, or content that is unlawful, harassing, or infringes the rights of others.
• Attempt to overwhelm, disable, or reverse-engineer the Service, or bypass rate limits or access controls.
• Upload content containing malware or scripts intended to disrupt the Service.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose in your jurisdiction.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations.

3. User Submissions

You may submit field reports, trail lines, and safety waypoints, including location data, text, and photos. You grant SouthBasin IceIntel a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, moderate, and distribute your submissions through the Service for the benefit of the ice-fishing and traveling community. You represent that you own or have the rights to any content you submit, and that photos do not violate the privacy of identifiable persons.

4. Moderation

Submissions are reviewed by moderators before appearing on the live map. We may reject, edit, or remove any submission at our discretion. Approval does not imply endorsement or verification of accuracy.

5. Ice Safety Disclaimer

The Service provides informational ice conditions only. It is not a guarantee of safe travel and is not a substitute for local knowledge or personal judgment. Always verify ice thickness and conditions in person before venturing onto ice. See our Ice Safety guide.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service uses third-party providers, including Mapbox (map rendering), Helcim (payment processing), and Sentinel Hub (satellite imagery). These providers may collect data under their own policies. We do not control their practices and are not responsible for them.

7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SouthBasin IceIntel and its operators are not liable for any damages, injury, or loss arising from reliance on the Service, including any decision to travel on ice based on information shown.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted in the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
